The People We Send You To
When a patient needs something we do not do, Dr. Leslie Wakefield does not hand over a name on a sticky note. She sits down with the person and records the conversation. The Spotlight Series is her referral list, out loud: a doula, an acupuncturist, a functional medicine physician, a trainer who works with pelvic floors. You get to hear how each one thinks, what they will and will not take on, and where their scope ends, before you ever pick up the phone. Watch them here, or watch them in full on the clinic's YouTube channel.
Four conversations, four practitioners.

Dr. Safa Maklad, MD
Board certified in family and obesity medicine, on functional and regenerative medicine: hyperbaric oxygen, IV nutrition and peptide therapy.

Olga Proskuryakova
Birth and postpartum doula, founder of MotheRetreat, on what real postpartum support looks like.

Dr. Andrea Orvieto
L.Ac., DACM, Fellow ABORM, on acupuncture for fertility and women’s health.

Ayelet Gottesman
Personal trainer and women’s health coach, on strength training and the pelvic floor.

A referral is only as good as the person behind it.
Most people have been sent somewhere by a provider who never explained why. You leave with a name, a number and no sense of whether this person will listen to you. That is the gap this series was made to close. Every guest is someone Dr. Leslie already trusts with her own patients, and the questions are the ones you would want asked: how do you work, who is this for, and what is outside your scope?
Two things to hold on to as you watch. What each guest describes is their practice, not ours. Wellsprings Health provides one thing, pelvic health physical therapy, one on one in a private room. And nothing said in these conversations is advice about your body. If pain, leaking or a postpartum symptom is what brought you here, Florida is a direct access state and you can book an evaluation without a physician referral.
