Dr. Leslie Wakefield
Dr. Leslie Wakefield founded Wellsprings Health in 2014 for one reason. She kept meeting patients who had been overlooked in busy clinics, and the ones who had it worst were carrying pelvic health concerns, the kind still called taboo and still discussed in a whisper. Those concerns sit in the middle of daily life. Sleep, sex, work, the confidence to leave the house without mapping the bathrooms. So she built a practice where they are named in plain words and treated with dignity, in a private room, with the door closed and the clock unhurried.
Her own training began in exercise physiology and human performance, with a BS and an MS from the University of Florida, and continued through her doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Miami in 2011. Advanced work in pelvic health, manual therapies and Pilates followed. Today she treats patients directly and sets the clinical direction of the practice, which includes choosing every clinician who joins it. That last part is deliberate. The quality of your care is decided long before you walk through the door, by who gets hired and what they are held to afterward.
I created Wellsprings Health with a simple vision: to build an environment where both patients and therapists can truly thrive.
What guides the work.
Three things run through every plan of care in this practice. Dignity, because a pelvic health problem is not a character flaw and will never be treated as one. Honesty, because you deserve a clear picture of what is happening in your body and what the work ahead actually asks of you. And expertise paired with empathy, since either one on its own leaves a patient short. Leslie's standard is that you should walk out of a session feeling seen and heard, not processed. In practice that means listening before treating, explaining before touching, and rewriting the plan the moment your body says something new. It also shapes who gets hired here, because a heart-centered practice is not a slogan, it is a set of decisions made one clinician at a time.
